To manage my diet and fitness, I use the mobile app connected to http://www.livestrong.com. That works well for me.
When entering workouts on the StreetStrider, I use the setting for "elliptical trainer general", which is 1922 calories per hour.

My idea is to get StreetStrider listed as an exercise on that database. I assume it would mean someone from StreetStrider contacting the folks at Livestrong.com and providing them with meaningful data.
Has StreetStrider commissioned research to measure the caloric burn of the StreetStrider machines? How does it compare to other elliptical machines?
I tend to use my StreetStrider in one of two modes.
1) If I am suffering some arthritis pain and tenderness, I do what I call the Six Million Dollar Man workout, where I focus on control. Perfect revolutions, done slowly. No jagged movement of the pedals. I will do this in five or ten minute sessions, depending on how I feel. This is also how I got used to the machine when hooked up to the indoor Kinetic Road Machine trainer with the large 12lb flywheel.
2) If I am feeling fine, then I ride normally. I start slow and work up to a moderate pace. Sometimes slower for turns, etc.. Sometimes faster in the straightaways.
I would be interested to know how many calories each of these "modes" will burn.
