I went to the only dealer in the area and the only model they had was the 8R but it was in white. On your website it looks like the 8R only comes in red, blue, or black. My guess is this is an older model? I saw it also used to come with a 48 chainring, but now it comes with the 53 better for top end speed. Did the white one come with a 48 or a 53?
Thanks

Yes, the 8r had been in white - this white model has the same frame and most of the same components as the newer 8r colors except the crank set. The white 8r came with a 48 T chainring. We have a limited number of 53T crank sets available. Contact Dave (dave@streetstrider.com) to learn more about this.

The crankset, part of the drive train, consists of the chainring attached to the crank arms attached to the foot platforms.

Its the same crankset that comes on the 8R. It has 53 teeth vs 48 on the etx 3R. It basically allows you to get a little more top end speed than the default setup on the 8R. The reason it gives you more top speed than the 8R is because the 3r comes with a 13 tooth rear sproket and the 8r uses a 16 tooth rear sproket
